A key part of Turnstar’s production facility is its own in-house powder coating and metal finishing plant. For powder coating, a 7 stage automated pretreatment process ensures that the steel (mild or stainless) is adequately cleaned and then protected with a zinc phosphate coating before spraying and baking. A dedicated stainless steel pickling and passivating section was commissioned in June 2018 and ensures that all stainless steel has been acid treated to remove any mild steel contamination and heat affected zones from welding. The acid bath includes a mixture of hydrofluoric and nitric acid and Turnstar has a neutralizing tank which ensures that no harmful acids are released back into the environment as the water is changed.
