As part of a major security upgrade at its Cape Town headquarters, CIPLA, a global pharmaceutical leader, required a sleek, high-performance access control solution for its main entrance. Turnstar Systems responded with the installation of three Speedgate Kinetic lanes — two 600mm-wide lanes for standard pedestrian access and one 900mm-wide lane to accommodate wheelchair users and deliveries. The Kinetic’s slim profile and illuminated glass wings complement the building’s modern interior, while its rapid throughput ensures minimal congestion during peak hours.
The standout challenge was the integration of Morpho Wave biometric readers directly into the Speedgate housings. These advanced readers scan fingerprints in motion, allowing for contactless, high-speed identification. Turnstar’s engineering team worked closely with CIPLA’s security integrators to embed the readers without compromising the gate’s form factor or performance — resulting in a fully unified access experience that’s both secure and intuitive.
Beyond aesthetics and speed, the system delivers robust office security, ensuring that only authorized personnel can enter sensitive areas. The gates are equipped with anti-tailgating sensors, optical beam arrays, and fail-safe mechanisms to prevent unauthorized entry. The 900mm lane ensures full compliance with accessibility standards, reinforcing CIPLA’s commitment to inclusive design.
